Buckwheat (Fagopyrum Mill.)
- is a plant cultivated for its grain-like seeds, and also used as a cover crop. It occurs in temperate climates. It comes from eastern and central Asia. A typical species is Fagopyrum esculentum Moench. Cultivated plant - the world's most buckwheat is grown in countries of the former Soviet Union (in particular the former Central Asian republics), China, the United States and Canada, where it is mostly treated as a fodder plant.
White (Sinapis alba)
- plant grown in many countries. Native areas of its occurrence are Southern Europe (Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain), North Africa, West Asia and Pakistan. From these seeds is produced mustard oil (Oleum Erucae). It is characterized by an acute, acrid taste and smell, which stimulates the secretion of gastric juice and improves digestion.
Black (Brassica nigra)
– spice plant, also used in medicine. It grows wildly in North Africa, the significant parts of Asia (West Asia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, China) and almost in Europe. It spreads also in places outside of these areas and is cultivated almost throughout Europe, Asia, America and Africa.
In a natural manner occurs in Asia (Siberia, China), Eastern Europe and in North America. It contains tannin, and prevent the proliferation of mites and inhibiting the development of Gram (-) and Gram (+).
Flax seeds contain mucous compounds, protein and a lot of fat oil. They also contain organic acids - including ascorbic, enzymes, mineral salts - magnesium, zinc, iron. Flaxseed oil is rich in unsaturated fatty acid glycerides (such as linolenic and linoleic), a little less in saturated glycerides of fatty acids and phytosterols and vitamin E. In medicine are applicable whole flax seeds, flaxseed oil or flax meal. Flaxseed has the effect of coating, also protective, emollient and laxative effect. It is recommended especially in peptic ulcer disease. Mucilages included in flaxseed coat the esophageal mucosa, stomach and duodenum, protecting them from the acid and reducing inflammatory reactions.
Lentils have a lot of nutritional value, and therefore - health properties. Lentils primarily contains a lot of protein, which can be an alternative to animal protein. It is also a very rich source of potassium important for the heart and folic acid needed during pregnancy.
Spelt is one of the oldest varieties of wheat. Nowadays, it is grown mainly on organic farms in relatively small quantities. In the nineteenth century, spelled was more popular than common wheat. Currently, the volume of crops this forgotten genre of wheat continues to grow, contributing to its popularization. In most shops and bakeries are baking with spelled flour. You'll find breads, cereals, flour, pasta, biscuits and other food products.
Rapeseed is one of the most important cultivated plants in Poland. The area of its cultivation is increasing steadily, reaching in recent years, about 800000 ha (winter and also spring rapeseed). This is the most important oil plant in our climate zone. Oil pressed from rapeseed is used mainly for the production of edible oils, margarines and is used as a raw material for the production of biofuels. Rapeseed oilcake or post-extraction rapeseed meal gotten after the pressing of the seeds are used successfully for the production of feed.
